November Issue Stats



As a special treat I decided to provide you with the stats of the characters that play a major role in (some of) the November comics. This section also provides short summaries of the issues and sometimes some rules and/or equipment. The characters that are already somewhere on my page can be found there. Additional character info will appear for some of the new characters in one or more of the other sub-pages when I feel like it (or get a lot of requests). If you want this section to continue monthly (yeah right, I could try.) let me know.

Alpha Flight #4

Summary: Alpha Flight's new recruits are captured by Mesmero (back from the dead) in a restaurant outside of Montreal. Hypnotized, they are forced to fight the Alpha Flight veterans who themselves get mesmerized while the new recruits are saved from Mesmero's influence.

Known Powers:
-Hypnosis: Am ability to hypnotize up to 10 people with whom he has made eye contact. Victims get a Psyche FEAT to avoid falling under Mesmero's influence. Mesmero has learned to alter a person's perceptions and he can also induce full or partial amnesia. He can also force victims to follow his orders but they get a Psyche FEAT to break free when Mesmero demands an act that would cause them to lose karma.
Mesmero has recently learned to maintain the hypnosis of 1 person at a range of the whole planet. He must make a power check to do so for each day he wants to maintain contact and he cannot control others or engage in strenuous activities.
-Illusion Generation: Am ability to create illusions with sight and sound but not touch or smell. A psyche FEAT allows the victim to see through the illusion. They do illusionary damage. If health is reduced below 0 the victim fall unconscious for 1-10 rounds.
-Mental Blasts: Am, 2 areas range up to 4 targets but damage -1CS for every extra target.

Note: Mesmero survived his apparent death at the hands of the Dark Riders by taking control of their leader Gauntlet and making him believe he had shot him while in fact he was forced to miss. He retained subtle control of Gauntlet until recently.

Cable #48

Summary: A reporter for the Inquiring Eye, Irene Merryweather, is doing research into Sebastian Shaw and Donald Pierce. When her office is blown up and her contacts murdered Cable appears to save her from an assassination attempt by Hellfire Club mercenaries.

Summary: Angel tries to free his captive lover, Psylocke, from the evil clutches of Kuragari, self-proclaimed proctor of the Crimson Dawn. Sacrificing part of his life-force to free Psylocke of the Dawn's influence, Angel and the true proctor Gomurr defeat Kuragari and prevent the Crimson Dawn from taking over the earth dimension.

Psylockes powers were altered when she first was exposed to the Siege Perilious and later to the Crimson Dawn.
(New power) Shadow Transportation: Psylocke can merge with the shadows with Am ability and teleport through them up to 3 areas.
Telepathy: Am
-Psychic knives: being the summation of her psionic energy they do Am (psychic) energy damage to a living target and the target is required to make a Psyche FEAT vs. Ex intensity when a hit is scored, vs. In intensity when a stun is scored, and vs. Mn intensity when a kill is scored.
-Psychic Detection: In, this means Psylocke cannot be surprised in addition to the normal use of this power.
-Mental Probe: In, by anticipating what her opponent is going to do Psylocke gets +2CS on her attacks, dodges or evasions. Every round she must make a power FEAT vs. the opponents Psyche so people with a Psyche higher than Am are immune.

Known Powers:
Little is known about Gomurr except that he is a skilled magic-user and now the proctor of the Crimson Dawn. Despite his small and fragile looking form he still is a formidable warrior as well.
Magic: Gomurr is a Master level sorceror and now Sorceror Supreme of the Crimson Dawn Dimension. Gomurr has access to all spells at Mn level and with his staff as focus can increase their effects by +1CS. He can probably also travel the shadows now.

Deadpool #10

Summary: Struggling to get back on the path of the hero Deadpool takes his prisoner, Blind Alfred, to the Aquarium. Only to run into the Great Lakes Avengers (now calling themselves the Lightning Rods). While trying to teleport away, Doorman was also trying to teleport Blind Alfred away from Deadpool. The result seems to be that now Deadpool and Alfred are lost in time.

Wisdom is held captive by a former girl-friend, now black-air operative Sari St.Hubbins but manages to escape and defeat her. Kitty gets a message from SHIELD (leading to the Kitty Pryde: Agent of SHIELD Limited serie)

The kids severely trash the Circus of Crime but they call a truce when Ringmaster announces he doesn't want to live a life of crime anymore.

Maverick #3

Summary: After being captured by Ivan "the Terrible" Pushkin, Maverick is brainwashed and send out to supposedly kill Barington who is guarded by Alpha Flight's Guardian and Puck. He manages to get to Barington but overcomes his conditioning to find out that the real target is Pierre Cloche from Department H. Maverick, Puck and Guardian arrive in time to save Cloche from Sickle who is captured only to find out that they are tricked again and that Barrington is still a target. This time they arrive to late to save him from Hammer. Meanwhile Maverick's weapon inventor Isabel Ferguson manages to save maverick's companion Elena Ivanova from Ivan Pushkin.
Next Issue: Chris Bradley (Maverick's protege) runs away from home. Maverick and Wolverine go after him.

New Mutants #1 (of 3)

Summary: A New Mutants reunion really gets just that when the early New Mutants decide to check out the future by using Magik's teleporting disks. All the while Magik is disturbed by a visit from the future of her brother Mikhail Rasputin. Upon the young versions meeting their old version Douglock remarks to Illyana "Hey, aren't you Kitty's friend ? The one who DIED..?" which shocks Illyana to teleport herself away, leaving the others stranded in the future.
Next Issue: What exactly does Mikhail want ? And could this really be the return of Magik ? (I hope so!).

Possesion: Un ability to take over the minds of her victims. She must be in the same area to take control. The victim gets a Psyhce FEAT to avoid the effect. A similar FEAT may be attempted every half hour to shake off the effects. Otherwise Karma can totally control her victim.
-Perform actions with both her own physical form and the possesed form on a succesfull Psyche FEAT (1 per round).
-Possess multiple targets on a Psyche FEAT, the intensity is reduced by -1CS for every 2 additional targets.
-Change the peception of those possessed by making a successfull power check against the targets Psyche.

Shapechanging: Warlock's techno-organic body is a mutable form, allowing him the following power stunts:
-Increase his size from 2 feet to 200 feet.
-Reshape into functioning machines up to Mn level.
-Equip his machine selves with up to In damage energy or force rays.
-Mn ability to assume organic appearance, Am ability mimicking specific humans.
-Create sensors.
Body Armor: Ex, if inflicted more than 40 damage from a single attack, Warlock loses control over his form, taking on a splatered look.
Conversion: Warlock can regain lost health by converting living, organic objects to a crystalline matrix. Warlock gains health equal to the targets health or material strength. He does this with Mn ability and the target can attempt an End FEAT to avoid. Warlock must make flesh to flesh contact for this power to work.
Interstellar Travel: CL1000 ability to travel outer space. He is immune to the effects of vaccuum.

Uncanny X-Men #349

Summary: Maggott finds his way to New York on the trail of Magneto. There he runs into Psylocke and Angel. Meanwhile Rogue, Gambit, Joseph, Beast, Trish Tilby and the Mercenaries escape from Nanny's prison only to be confronted by a large force of robotic constructs while powerless. Trish Tilby, until then unnoticed manages to strike the head of Nanny and the X-Men's powers return. Gambit decides to hand himself over to the Mercenaries to await his trial.

Maggott carries 2 techno-organic slugs (one seems to be called meany). He can absorb these into his body, only when they are released does he gain the above stats and his body armor. He seems to control these slugs by focussing part of his mind into them but they also seem to be able to react autonomically. They possess In groundspeed and can eat through up to Mn material with 1 round (they can eat a car within 2). Upon living beings they probably inflict In edged damage attacking with Am ability.

Limited resistance to mind affecting powers: When controlling his slugs his mind is split into multiple fractions that act as a Ex psi-screen.
Aura Reading: Maggott can sense the history of locations and items with Am ability. If this is related to his slugs is not yet known.

Wolverine #118

Summary: In the O.Z.T. epilogue Jubilee, Storm, Cyclops, Phoenix and Wolverine are attacked by Prime-Sentinels fleeing before the SHIELD troops. While Wolverine tries to convince a recently activated sleeper unit of his humanity, in which he succeeds, Cyclops is severely wounded. On the way home they find out that a bomb is implanted in the wounded Cyclops.

X-Factor #139

Summary: While Mystique is undercover in one of her earlier identities as Mallory Brickman, wife of Senator Brickman, Havok is tending to the wounds X-factor suffered at the hands of Sabretooth. It is revealed that Havok seems to be in part playing his role as leader of the Brotherhood to be able to keep an eye on the Dark Beast and rescue victims of his machinations. Another member, Ever, seems to have the same goal.

Summary: After breaking their ties with the X-Men and Cable, X-Force is on their own. Going after a surviving tribemember of Warpath's tribe they end up with a broken car and no money. When they save a man/boy from a mob-hit he invites them to work for him. Meanwhile Domino discovers what OZT implanted at the base of her skull. And it isn't nice.

Device: Synaptic Scrambler:

The device implated at the base of Domino's skull is emitting ramdom electrical bursts which creates asynaptic static. This lowers the victims F and A by -3CS effectively (not for health purposes). It cannot be removed without paralyzing the victim.

Summary: The conclusion to O.Z.T. where Iceman, Marrow, Dr.Cecillia Reyes and Sabra confront Bastion in his own house, the house where his human mother lives and where Charlotte Jones' son is being held captive. At the last moment SHIELD arrives to take Bastion (who admitted he is someone more than human, reborn after being judged, probably Nimrod after the Siege Perilious) into custody.
Next Issue: Will Cyclops survive the implanted bomb, and who is waiting at the Mansion. New members join and old ones leave.
