Master exam Sara Khalafinejad May 28

Dispuut Kaiser zoekt nieuwe bestuursleden
Het dispuut L.A.D. F. Kaiser is op zoek naar een nieuw bestuur van 3 of 4 enthousiaste sterrenkunde studenten!
LAD F. Kaiser is verantwoordelijk voor de rondleidingen op de Oude Sterrewacht. Verder organiseert Kaiser de kijkersinstructie, waarneemavondjes op de Oude Sterrewacht, filmavonden, het jaarlijkse voetbal toernooi en nog veel meer!
Ben je geïnteresseerd, kom dan op 14 mei naar Huygens lab 226 om 13:00 uur. Wij zorgen voor een lekkere lunch en zullen wat meer vertellen hoe leuk het is om deel uit te maken van het Kaiser bestuur! (Updated: 13 mei 2013)

2nd yr astronomy students detect Solar System Body
Sterrenkunde Practicum 2 students report the detection of a Solar System body with the INT. Preliminary results are consistent with a 70 ± 8 kg object, moving very fast relative to all other objects in the field. Read more! (Updated: 26 april 2013)
1e jaars: voorlichting Studieplan 13 mei
Vanaf 1 sept 2013 moeten alle studenten van de Universiteit Leiden een Studieplan maken, en dat inleveren ter goedkeuring voor het volgende academische jaar begint. Voorlichting hierover aan de 1e jaars studenten wordt gegeven door de studieadviseur Reyer Jochemsen op maandag 13 mei om 10.00 uur in De Sitterzaal. (Updated: 24 april 2013)
Master colloquium: Sara Khalafinejad
Today Tuesday Apr 23rd, Sara Khalafinejad will give a master student colloquium at 16:30 in HL 414, entitled: "Ground-based search for sodium in the atmosphere of hot Jupiter HD 189733b using HARPS data". Our master student colloquia are aimed at a broad astronomy audience and therefore everyone is warmly welcomed to take part! We especially encourage the (master) students to attend!

Oort professor 2013: Dr. Louis Allamandola
Dr. Louis Allamandola is the Oort professor for 2013.
He will give the Oort lecture "The Universe and Life: From Astrochemistry to Astrobiology" on Thursday, May 30 at 8pm in the "great auditorium" of the Academic building. Also, he'll give a number of seminars for interested students, postdocs and staff in the week of June 3rd. (Updated: 17 april 2013)
