- Academie-Gebouw
- The main university building located on the
Rapenburg in the centre of Leiden. It was originally a nunnery, but
was taken away from the Roman Catholic Church after the reformation,
and subsequently given to the newly founded (1575) university. This is
where the formal and ceremonial Ph.D examinations take place. Note
that this building once housed a telescope platform on its roof!

their University education. It is equivalent to a Master's degree in
US terms.
