Preface

This guide is intended as a first introduction for newcomers to Leiden Observatory. It aims at mapping out the sometimes confusing administrative maze of committees, councils and boards, together encompassing enough slots to offer every member of the Dutch astronomical community at least one bureacratic position ... To get the foreigners used to the Dutch language, most of the terms in the text referring to specific university entities/titles are given in Dutch. At the end of this guide, a glossary provides a reminder of the meaning attached to the various terms.
