Radiative transfer in molecular lines Workshop May 17-21 1999 |
|
|
A workshop on radiative transfer in molecular lines will be held in
Leiden (The Netherlands), on May 17 - 21, 1999. The focus of the
workshop will be on radiative transfer algorithms for the
interpretation of molecular line data. The aim is to exchange
knowledge and expertise on the numerical, physical and astronomical
challenges that researchers in this field are faced with today and in
the near future.
The emphasis of this 5-day meeting lies on interaction, so we have
invited a limited number of scientists. Each participant is invited to
deliver a talk about her/his work related to radiative transfer and/or
molecular lines. The daily schedule allows ample time for free
discussions. Typically, lectures will only be
in the morning from 9-11 am and the afternoon from 3:30-5 pm. In
between the lectures there will be a (different) main-subject each day
in which participants can interact in an informal and hopefully
constructive way.

Report of the workshop (new)
A report on subjects discussed during the workshop has been written by Jeremy Yates.
The program
The LIST OF TOPICS
of the workshop defines a general outline of the topics proposed. There is a preliminary SCHEDULE for talks and discussions.
Participation
Although we have most of the participants signed up now (see the
list of participants), we might
still be able to add a couple of participants at this stage, although
we cannot guarantee to be able to reseve a hotel room. In case you
are interested, please contact Gerd-Jan van Zadelhoff
(radtrans@strw.leidenuniv.nl).
The Lorentz center & how to get there
The workshop will be held at the Lorentz Center in Leiden. All
information about the facilities, road maps etc can be
found at the Lorentz Center
Web Page. If you need to contact the Lorentz center regarding this workshop, please contact Annette Vermond (vermond@lc.leidenuniv.nl)
