The deadline for your contribution is 1 November 2008.
Invited talks should be approximately 12–15 pages, poster papers must not exceed 8 pages of text including figures.
The paper submission will be handled through the journal's website at http://www.springer.com/astronomy/journal/10686. This page also contains detailed instructions regarding the formatting of the manuscript.
The preferred file format is either LaTeX or Microsoft Word. Template files are available for LaTeX and MS Word.
A formal example of a published paper is provided at http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10686-008-9121-x. Please note that the MS-Word template unfortunately does not exactly reproduce the Journal layout. Hence we ask you not to exceed 16.5 pages (or 9 pages for posters) as formatted in the provided MS Word template. The Latex template reproduces the print layout and page count accurately if the option \documentclass[smallextended]{svjour3} in the file `template.tex’ is activated.
Once you are satisfied with your final manuscript, please submit it via https://www.editorialmanager.com/expa/, which is also accessible from the Submit Online link on the main Journal page. IMPORTANT: Please enter "SI:400 Years of Astronomical Telescopes" in the author comment box. This will help us to prevent confusion and speed-up the review process.
The publication will take place in two steps. First, all invited papers will be published in a special issues of Experimental Astronomy. Second, all invited papers will furthermore be published in the hardcover book. Poster papers will be included in the book on CD-ROM. The book will be available from Springer for about 90 Euros and is, of course, free for registered participants. It will also be accessible online and as e-book.
Please help us to meet our goals of an early publication date and a book of lasting value. Thank you very much for your important contribution.
